If one of the teams was to set up their car to run in a straight line for an extended distance, such as on a dry lake bed like at Bonneville, what kind of top speed would it be capable of reaching? I've seen the telemetry on tv showing them reaching nearly 300 kph. That works out to around 190 mph. I have to believe they are capable of going much faster than that since the F1 tracks don't generally have long straights.

I am new to Formula 1 races. F1 seems to be almost impossible to compete or win. Once a driver starts at the front, it is nearly a sure victory. Drivers starting from the back cannot have a chance. Why can't they start from the same line as in Olympic athletics. It is only 20 or so cars. Just widen the track and let the natural course take its place. Now it's too boring and predetermined.

A big weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix (Feat. Sean Kingston and Flo Rida)
During September I got to pack my bags and head over to Singapore, for a crazy long weekend with an unsigned aussie band called The Cracks... The band comp (called LG Unsigned) was entered by over 220 unsigned bands from around Australia, and the winning band was voted in by MTV viewers.
